Miller with the President’s Volunteer Service Award.  Mr. Miller is an active volunteer who has devoted more than 530 hours to local community organizations in the Washington DC, metropolitan area.  While traveling around the country, tomorrow, members of senior DOE leadership will also recognize other individuals for their dedication to volunteer service.

“Steven and the others honored this week set a high standard for all Americans and should be proud of their service, sacrifice and generosity.  We are very fortunate, as a nation, and the Department of Energy recognizes the importance of volunteerism.  I want to thank the volunteers honored this week and volunteers nationwide who play a key role in making this nation so great,” Secretary Bodman said.

Mr. Miller is a DOE headquarters employee who has volunteered with the Arlington Public Schools to read to kindergarten classes at the Francis Scott Key Elementary School and to discuss semester topics.  He has also supervised internships of high-school students in DOE’s Office of the Assistant General Counsel for the Environment.
